A Crowdfunding Campaign for
A mind-bending Kannada psychological horror film — where reality dissolves, and the mind becomes the haunted house.
The Film
MAYA (ಮಾಯಾ) is a Kannada psychological horror film that dares to go where no Kannada film has gone in over a decade. It is not about monsters, ghosts or jump-scares — it is about the horror that lives inside the human mind.
Set entirely within a single location, the story follows a female protagonist whose grip on reality begins to fracture. What unfolds is a labyrinthine psychological journey — layered, intimate, and deeply unsettling.
The script is complete. The crew is assembled. The cast — four deeply talented artists — is committed. All we need now is the one thing that makes cinema possible: a community of believers willing to back a bold vision.
The Vision
"In the last 10 to 15 years, the Kannada film industry has produced little that pushes the boundaries of psychological horror. Maya is not just a film — it is a statement. A proof that Kannada storytelling can be intimate, bold, and deeply original." — The Creative Team behind MAYA
A fully developed, original screenplay by Mohith Sadashiv — meticulously crafted for maximum psychological impact.
Four talented artists, each bringing depth and authenticity to this intimate, character-driven horror narrative.
A skilled, passionate crew ready to execute a visually striking, low-budget cinematic vision with precision.
A story centered around a complex female protagonist — rare, necessary, and vital to Kannada cinema today.
The Director's Story
Have you ever felt like falling from a 10-story building? I have. That was how my first filmmaking experience ended.
The journey began during the second year of B.A. at Government College Kasaragod. Cinema had become more than just an interest — a short film was started with 2–3 friends, but as time passed, everyone slowly stepped away. The shoot stopped midway. The film was never released.
That phase left a deep scar — years of silence, feeling humiliated in college and among friends. But even through all of that, the passion for filmmaking never faded. It simply waited.
A meeting with Harikiran changed things. Together, a short film titled Vruttha was made — and then two more feature film stories were written. The dream was growing again.
After completing an M.A. in Kannada, an opportunity arrived to work with the team of MG Srinivas on the Kannada feature film Old Monk in Bangalore. Being part of a professional film set gave a new level of confidence — proof that this path was real.
Years of approaching producers, contacting actors and directors — countless doors, most of them closed. Coming from a middle-class background, fully dedicating oneself to passion is never simple. Responsibilities arrive. We accept the work in front of us and carry our dreams quietly alongside our jobs. But this dream could not be left behind.
Today, we have the story. We have the team. We have the script. What we need now is a crowd that believes in us, trusts our vision, and supports this film journey.
"I cannot leave behind my passion so easily. After all these years — Maya is that moment when everything we have waited for finally has a name."
